This seems a strange choice considering the FT-86 would be the prime candidate for a hybrid powertrain, but this could mean the car is bigger coupe that can serve as a halo model. Mercedes Viano Concept Pearl Vision Announced

Mercedes has announced its intention to introduce the concept Viano Pearl Vision in Frankfurt.

Described as a yacht on wheels, the truck has a light gray exterior with a unique front fascia and LED daytime running lights. Inside, the cabin offers leather seats, wooden floors, polished aluminum, W-LAN connectivity and a measurement system from Bang & Olufsen audio.

First Audi TT-RS Comes To The U.S.

Audi RS lineup has officially returned to America as a veteran racer Don Istook took delivery of a 2012 TT-RS.

2012 Ford Explorer EcoBoost Offers Class-leading Power Consumption

Ford has released new information on the EcoBoost 2012 Explorer.

Designed for fuel-conscious buyers, the crossover is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder 240 hp (179 kW / 243 hp) and 270 lb.-ft. (366 Nm) of torque. It does not sound like a lot of power for a seven-seat crossover, but Ford boasts that the Explorer is rated first-class fuel economy of 20 mpg city / highway 28 mpg. For comparison, the performance of the explorer with the 3.5-liter V6 17 mpg highway mpg city / 25.

Pricing information was not released, but the model is expected to begin arriving in dealerships shortly.

Here's the 2012 Audi S8 spied without camouflage.

We get to see the front for the first time here, because this prototype Audi S8 performs the test, while pulling a trailer in the European Alps.

The front fascia includes new air intake similar to the A5 in the current and upcoming facelift A4.

The rear exhaust is a quad indicative of the S-line flagship model.

The Audi S8 is delivered with a derivative of Bentley 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing about 500 hp (368 kW / 493 hp). The standard will be an eight-speed automatic transmission and Quattro four-wheel drive.

2012 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Rreview

The emergence of the classic Lincoln's new hybrid version was announced at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Las Vegas held each January at that city's convention center in Nevada. Ford is making a late jump into electric and hybrid car sales--still at 1.8 percent of last year's sales this is a viable offering. Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally is posed to lead the car company into its second century expecting to derive 25% of it's American manufactured product line from hybrids by 2020. Though the auto giant is still reeling from staggering setbacks it hopes to hire over 7,000 to speed up this production effort. It is however negotiating lower wages for those new hires. Perhaps the popularity of Ford's new battery operated hybrid and electric vehicles will bring back jobs and eventually better wages. It certainly seems likely that the 2012 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid will play a vital role among car collectors and those just seeking value and comfort.

GreenGT LMP H2 to Race at Le Mans in 2012

The car is powered by a 300kW fuel cell and carries 12 liters of compressed hydrogen gas at 10,000 psi. It's pre-race prototype has a 100kW fuel cell for demonstration and testing purposes. It will sport 300kW by race time.

Six time Le Mans driver and 2-time winner Christian Pescatori will be driving the car for the race. The H2 will be made through solar electrolysis, so the hydrogen will be emissions-free during the race.

At first glance it is quite obvious that the new Edge has received a thorough reworking of the entire front fascia, as well as changes to the rear of the vehicle. The new grille immediately brings back memories of the original Ford Sport Trac Adrenaline concept, although with a modern Fusion-esque style. Standard halogen headlamps are gone, replaced with projector headlamps for function and cosmetic appeal �€“ HID projectors optional. Below, the traditional fog lamp housings have been replaced with LED light bars, similar to those found on the Taurus SHO or Ford Fiesta.

Out back, the cheap looking chrome housing in the tail lamps has been dropped for a more conventional red style, complete with uniquely stylized indentations in the tail lamp housings which have "EDGE" embossed into the plastic. Other changes to the rear of the crossover include minor changes to the general shape of the rear bumper and lower fascia, as well as the addition of an external handle and chrome 'wings' on either side of the Ford oval.

Although the outgoing Edge's interior was generally considered ergonomically sound and modestly appealing to the eye, hard plastic and a lack of design language kept the Edge's interior from being particularly memorable. For the latest model, Ford says it made considerable improvements to overall design, layout and particularly to materials. The new Edge enjoys a more upscale look and feel, along with simplified controls via new interfacing technologies.

2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class First Look

The M-class might be seen as a gas-guzzling SUV, but Mercedes is talking up its newfound fuel efficiency thanks to a new range of BlueTEC diesel and BlueDIRECT gasoline engines that will be offered in the U.S.

The ML350 CDI gets a new version of Mercedes' 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel. Peak output rises from 231 to 258 horsepower and from 398 to 457 pound-feet of torque. No EPA estimates are available yet, but Mercedes says the engine delivers roughly 32 mpg on the European cycle. Given that around 15-20 percent of M-Class vehicles sold in the U.S. are now diesel-powered, this model could become a much bigger part of the lineup in the coming years.

On the gasoline side, the ML350 4MATIC BlueEfficiency will be powered by a 3.5-liter V6 direct-injection engine rated at 306 hp and 273 lb-ft. Acceleration from 0-60 takes 7.6 seconds, and top speed is 146 mph. It will be joined later by what Mercedes is calling its "international engine," a 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 offering up 408 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

Across the range, Mercedes is claiming a 10 percent improvement in fuel efficiency, achieved through a range of measures. Electro-hydraulic steering is standard, together with auto-stop/start technology connected to a seven-speed automatic transmission, which taken together equate to almost a quarter of the efficiency savings. In Europe, this efficiency drive will manifest itself in an eco-focused model powered by a 2.1-liter turbodiesel offering a range of up to 750 miles with a 23.8 gallon tank. This model won't be crossing the Atlantic, although the engine may feature in a U.S.-bound C-Class.

The model range

At market launch of the 2012 M-Class, there will be two models available in the U.S. The ML350 BlueTEC 4MATIC delivers an output of 240 hp and 455 lbft of torque, with an estimated fuel consumption of 20 city 25 highway. With 302 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, the gasoline-engine ML350 4MATIC has an estimated fuel economy of 17/22.

2012 Buick Regal GS

The 2012 Buick Regal GS has been certified by the Society of Automotive Engineers at 270 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet of torque. That makes the GS’ turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder the most power-dense engine SAE has ever certified, at 135 hp per liter. The figure is also an improvement from the 255 hp GM taunted to us back in November.

Despite delivering more torque than the Acura TSX V-6, Audi A4 Sport and Lexus IS 350, the Regal is slower than all those vehicles, with a zero-to-60-mph time of just 6.7 seconds. But it is a hair faster than the 2012 Volvo S60 T5, which does the job in 6.8 seconds.

The Regal GS will be offered with a standard six-speed manual transmission, with an automatic transmission available later. The sedan will deliver up to 28 mpg on the highway with the manual, GM says.

The GS comes with a number of high-performance features, such as 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, adjustable drive settings and a four-wheel sport suspension. Twenty-inch wheels will be available as an option. On the inside, there’s a flat-bottom steering wheel, metal pedals and unique leather seats.

2012 Volvo S60 T5 First Drive

On sale now is an entry-level version of Volvo’s S60 mid-sized sedan called the T5. It is front-wheel drive only and gets motivation from a 2.5-litre turbocharged inline-five making 250 hp and 266 lb.-ft. at 1,800 rpm. A six-speed auto is the only available transmission.

To refresh your memory, the completely redone Volvo S60 T6 AWD arrived last year with a “naughty” ad campaign, playing up its sexy styling, standard all-wheel-drive and a 300 hp, 325 lb.-ft. turbo 3.0-litre straight-six.


An impressive car it is, and while its dynamics aren’t quite enough to avert the enthusiast’s gaze from the Fatherland to the Hinterland, the S60 T6’s combination of styling, interior design, comfort, safety and effortless speed make it a winner in my books.

But I think I like the T5 better, and not just because its starting price of $38,300 undercuts the T6 by $7,150. All the elements that make the T6 a very good car are intact here.

Starting with the sheet metal: rakish, taught and modern, yet possessing a degree of Scandinavian restraint that suggests an enduring design. It is marginally longer and wider than the previous S60, and features a bold grille and large headlight pods that sweep back over the front fenders. My tester’s optional 18-inch alloys filled the wheel wells nicely.

Things are equally pleasing on the inside. Volvo is adhering to a design theme that plays on contrasts – no Germanic coal-bin black in here. Jonathan Disley, chief designer for the S60, says “the inspiration comes from looking at Scandinavia in general,” drawing on the harsh contrasts that come with the seasons, as well as with the terrain and architecture.

So we have a finely rendered interior sporting a soft-touch dash and the trademark “waterfall” centre console trimmed with unique wood and metal accents. While the base T5 gets fabric seats, this tester sported the leather upgrade, here in brown Beechwood that set the cabin off nicely.

Lamborghini Gallardo Gets Flame Broiled At Norwegian McDonald's

Flame broiling is more Burger King's gig, but one McDonald's in Furuset, Norway, apparently wants to get in on the tasty fire-licked action.


This Lamborghini Gallardo did what Italian supercars do third-best while in that McDonald's drive-through: burned to the ground. You can see the foamy, post-firefighter aftermath at the link below.

The driver and owner of the car, Norwegian rap star (!) Tshawe Baqwa, walked away unharmed.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 at Australian International Motor Show 2011

Lamborghini has pulled the covers off the brand-new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 at the 2011 Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne. This is the car’s first Australian unveiling and boy does it stand out.

Featuring a brand-new 6.5-litre V12 producing 515kW and 690Nm of torque, the car is able to rocket from 0-100km/h in just 2.9 seconds. It’s then capable of accelerating on to a top speed of 350km/h. Now normally, Lamborghini show cars are coated in some form of bright paintwork. This year, Lamborghini has opted for a more sedate and modest silver/grey tone.

Don’t worry though. The big Aventador still stood out as one of crowd favourites on the show’s opening day. The enormity is just not present in images compared with its real life presence. You just have to see it in the flesh.
